Sweet fancy Moses

I am TELLING you

Last night my kitchen faucet quit working, and later I woke up drenched in sweat.

MM-HMM.

Bawk bawk

It's Easter, and whenever I look out my kitchen window at the expanse of open lawn, I expect there to be some kind of reminder out there. Like chickens colored in Easter egg stripes.

I am proof of God

These things do not happen in a vacuum. And yet they happen to me continually.

I was just in Florida. Disney World. For six days straight I spent the day outside and walking. Probably walked a good 5-6 miles each day or most days. I will find a way to keep this up, a version of it, I thought. I will exercise twice a day! This is awesome! I'll finally really lose the weight that has slowly built up throughout my 30s.

Then I get a cold.

A cold possibly introduced by all that activity.

Yesterday I even felt worse the after exercising.

Somebody up there is laughing.

Well hello there.

Set #1 is here. It might only be appealing to Florida people and those who loves babies. Many, many more to come. I thought I took 700-800 photos; it would seem I actually took 1,265.

Besmited with allergies, I have returned

to fuzzy babies, intrigue (Fathom talked to Jenny! Bliss was friendly!) and mystery (where did THAT come from?). It was an awesome trip, full of much awesomeness, which I will tell you about later. Photos will start arriving at Flickr today.

Many boundless, endless thanks to my wonderful wonderful kittysitters. Beauteous gifts are coming your way. And to those who extended their kind hospitality to me in Orlando, drove long distances to see me or just withstood my visits. You bring sunshine and a glowing monkey quality to my life.

And I started out in a fine mood today

But then I went clothes shopping. Then I went to the sleep guy, and I felt pretty good again.

Then I ran into Sergio at Wegmans.

I haven't told You about Sergio. Not much to tell, really; just that we met on Match and had dinner back in December. I thought we hit it off. We had all kinds of things in common; he even loves Buffalo. Later that night I decided to do something I never do and write him saying really enjoyed it and I want to do it again if you do. Next night I got the most perfunctory of replies, saying oh I'll be busy in Buffalo (not true; he'd already told me he wouldn't be in Buffalo till the weekend) and you know maybe after the holidays.

This really put me into a tailspin for a while: if someone I THOUGHT I got along that well with, whom I had that much in common with, wasn't interested, what hope did I have?

So today I ran into him in the produce section, and we cheerily greeted each other and then he looked away before he had passed me like he was saying "Oh don't even THINK I'm talking to you."

There's a part of me that kind of concentrates on not running into people who would make me uncomfortable. Old friends long gone, people I went to high school with, you know. Lately I've wondered if this determination (which seems to work!) and slight fear might be somehow keeping me from more pleasant encounters too. So I dropped it. And lo and behold, Sergio the IC Spanish teacher. I knew it would happen sooner or later. The gods like to see me embarrassed, after all.

So on top of the clothes shopping and the Sergio running into, the bathing suit top I ordered from Lands' End looks awful, and I have to order another. Which I did, one they didn't even have when I ordered what I have now.
It's either that or give up and just wear shorts to the pool. But sitting there looking at them all and knowing how unlikely it is that I'll ever look good in one again ... Sigh.
