What happened while I was gone?

We used to be a hardy lot. We used to see forecasts for six inches of snow and laugh. Nothing short of three feet could dampen our spirits. Now when the prediction is 1-3 inches -- falling over a whole day, mind you -- we get a winter storm advisory? That's not advisory-worthy; it's what's called FEBRUARY IN CENTRAL NEW YORK.

What are we, a Carolina? ARE WE NOT MEN? I AM SPARTICUS!

They did something similar down here a few weeks back when we had a cold snap and the water parks closed due to the "unseasonable weather." This was in January and it was cold outside -- that's the very definition of seasonable! (At least in this hemisphere.)
